After completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

• Assess the risk level of those chronic pain patients most likely to benefit from opioid therapy
• Identify appropriate opioid analgesic agent(s), based on safety and efficacy data, and patient presentation
• Optimize analgesia through titration, rotation, or conversion
• Use appropriate documentation to support opioid prescribing
